On Friday, December 30th Elin will open at the Black Cat for Bio Ritmo with her new project Alma Tropicalia featuring NYC percussionist Zé Mauricio (Cyro Baptista's 'Beat the Donkey'). And January 28, 2012 they will be featured at Artisphere together with Elikeh and the Bellevederes in the musical event "Git Up And Git Down: World Music Grooves from Africa to Brazil."
On Dec 11th Elin recorded her first EP with Alma Tropicália including: Globo da Morte (Os Novos Baianos), Irene (Caetano Veloso), Eu Vou Torcer (Jorge Ben), and Tinindo Trincando (Os Novos Baianos) – soon to be released on vinyl. Stay tuned!
Dec 2nd Elin made a live recording with Alma Tropicália in front of an audience at Sound of Music Studios in Richmond, VA. Stay tuned for details.
On October 2nd Elin was one of the featured performers in Brazil Day Festival DC with Dani Cortaza on guitar.
In June 2011 Elin joined forces with DC's own ALMA TROPICÁLIA, a band that pays tribute to the psychedelic "Tropicália" movement of 60's & 70's Brazil. They have since played major venues & festivals across the northeastern corridor, including The Kennedy Center. See 'Events' page for upcoming shows.
Last year, Elin toured Asia where she spent three months singing jazz in Tokyo at the "Lost in Translation" hotel and two months on Guam performing around the island with the fantastic local talent.
The 15th annual Billboard World Song Contest awarded Elin an honorable mention for her song, "I Love New York."
Elin's song "La Luna" won 3rd place in the Latin Category of the 2008 International Songwriting Competition(ISC) out of more than 15,000 entries worldwide. With the most impressive group of judges and the largest grand prize of any songwriting competition, ISC is the leading global songwriting event.
In 2008, Elin shared the stage with Chaka Khan, Wyclef Jean, George Benson, George Duke, and Stanley Clarke at the 3rd annual "Jazz in the Gardens" Music Festival at the Dolphin Stadium in Miami.
Immediately following her performance in Miami she participated in the 2008 "Festival Internacional Jazz Peru" which was held March 19-23 in Lima, Peru.

On August 25th, 2008 Elin sold out Jazz at Lincoln Center when she headlined Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola for the first time. In July 2007 - Elin's debut at Dizzy's - she sold out the club on her last of five nights closing for legends Flora Purim & Airto Moreira.

Lazy Afternoon, Elin's debut album, placed extremely well on the JazzWeek charts after its release: On the World Music Chart, it debuted as the #1 most added album and jumped from #42 to #12 in one week, then peaked at #6. On the Traditional Jazz Chart, it was the 6th Most Added CD, and jumped to #45 on the College Jazz Chart its second week, then peaked at #4.
Lazy Afternoon was officially released on September 5th, 2006 nationwide, and is now available at major retail stores across the U.S., all major online sites, and at Blue Toucan Music.
The album can now be heard on jazz stations and shows across the nation and is garnering rave reviews! Check out your local jazz station and show some extra support by calling in a request for your favorite song from the album.
